Bowen's disease
Dermatosis praecancerosa Bowen
In medicine, the term Bowen's disease is understood to mean a malignant change in the skin or mucous membrane. As a so-called "carcinoma in situ" it represents a precursor to cancer. In this disease, the malignant cells are limited to the skin and do not grow any further into the body tissue. These skin changes were first described by dermatologist John Bowen, after whom Bowen's disease was named.
