What is the Epstein Barr Virus? The Epstein-Barr virus, EBV for short, is the causative agent of glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis). It is a DNA virus belonging to the Herpesviridae family. EBV is usually transmitted by smear infection or droplet infection, typically through kissing.
